Day Trip: Philadelphia Flower Show

Thinking of a great day trip or overnight trip?  The Philadelphia Flower Show is running now through March 12, 2023.  It's located in the Convention Center across from the Reading Terminal Market in Philly -- For many years Acadia Antlers has been a vendor in the Marketplace and meeting so many of our customers in person and helping to hand select the perfect antler chews for your pups has been so much fun for us.  This year we decided to be visitors instead and really enjoyed the experience!!

The Philadelphia Flower Show is the largest indoor flower show in the world and attracts many from all over the world.  It started back in 1829 by the Philadelphia Horticultural Society, and features innovative exhibits and displays, and showcases the latest trends in gardening and horticulture.  It's definitely the kick-off for Spring, and a great motivation to get your garden plan in order.  A trip over to Reading Terminal Market is a must for lunch and the local vendors always have the best!  We have also over the years had an Acadia Antlers cart located in the center of the market, and sold our antlers to all the visitors wanting to take a special treat back home to their pups!!

If you want to do an overnight, I would suggest staying outside of Philadelphia in areas like Kennett Square, Phoenixville, King of Prussia, or Malvern.  There are lots of great hotels within a 30-minute drive to the city.

Another great place to visit is Longwood Gardens.  Tickets are about $25, and you can spend the day there year-round as the displays change seasonally - They are indoors and outdoors and I was so amazed by the orchids!  There is a lot of history there as well as learning about the du Pont family and its transformations over the years.

There are many great restaurants in the area - one of my favorites is the Terrain Gardens which has locations in Devon and Doylestown PA - beautiful flowers, gardening accessories, and plants in their stores and the food is amazing (make reservations as it is always busy). Stop at the Strawberry Bakery in Malvern for wonderful pastries - They even have a two-hour pastry-making class once a month which would be a great class to take. Their stuff is amazing!!  We also stopped at the Warren Tavern Inne also in Malvern which has great indoor and outdoor dining.  Had fun eating dinner outside in an igloo - and there are lots of outdoor areas for when the weather warms up. Lots of history in the area, and so much more to plan for my next trip!!

Lastly, besides flowers, dining, and history, the shopping is over the top!! My first experience shopping at a QVC Outlet Store (also in Malvern) was neat - the inventory there changes fast so you will never be disappointed at what they have. There are plenty of antique stores and traditional stores like TJ Maxx, HomeGoods, and Marshalls - which were stocked full of fun finds. And... yes, there are a few casinos in the area!!

Our humble beginning started at a roadside stand right on the outskirts of the Acadia National Forest selling to tourists visiting the area as well as locals. The response to our all-natural, long-lasting chews has been incredible, and we strive to continue to be the premier source of moose antler dog chews across the country. Our antlers touch the lives, hearts, health, and happiness of not only the pet but the pet owner as well.
